Tonight included tracks from a Cantankerous Records release called Four On The Floor. It includes individual disks from TST, Dotabata, Horsing and PPP on rectangle disks. Anyone releasing rectangle shaped disks that come packaged in an old audio cassette case are clearly saying 'fuck you itunes'. An attitude I do so like. I note that Rope Society and Dead Boomers also released albums on the weekend at the Cipher Productions release gig on audio cassette......for the hardcore amongst us that listen on ALL MEDIUMS.

Tonight is the annual radiothon of 3D Radio. This is our one time of the year when we ask our subscribers to renew their membership and to entice new subscribers to part with a few dollars a year to keep the station running. We rely on subscriptions and not on government grants. Our commercial advertising comes from the local music industry in Adelaide South Australia (ie venues and events etc).

Our library at 3D Radio houses a vast collection of music from South Australian artists. Its inclusiveness is unrivalled across the globe. This announcer has travelled to many cities where independent radio thrives and has not seen a collection even close to the one held at 3D Radio.

Tonight's show is dedicated purely to experimental music in Adelaide. I've chosen to start the show with the Adelaide duo Abrasive Blasting Equipment who used power tools as well as traditional noise making instruments in their 2004 album. Copies of this work are still available through EC Productions.

Second up tonight is another TG piece. In 1980 Throbbing Gristle provided a soundtrack for Derek Jarman's 1974 short film In The Shadow Of The Sun.  TG played a live version of this soundtrack in their 2009 US tour.

Hey You. Tonight's set was two tracks of an hour in length each. Jarboe La Salle Devereaux's exquisite 1997 album My Delicate Beast (self released by Jarboe).  The other track is Boris' first album, not the original release on Fangs Anal Satan which was 60 minutes and 15 seconds but the Southern Lords release in 2001 which is 65 minutes and 34 seconds (and includes a bonus track with the release). The later release has a better bottom end mix (as you would expect from Southern Lord...)

I recall that Leo from Proud To Be Loud stated on his show that if Diamond Sins did not make the top 101 plus 1 he would resign his show.  Diamond Sins did not make this years top 100.  Which is not to say they did not produce a fucking great album.  Just that only a few announcers in 2012 chose to play the heavy end of the spectrum.  The 101 is made up of what was played on 3D during the year (www.threedradio.com).  Not what was voted or polled. Personalities did not make our 101 which is such an obscured concept. Personalities before music. My gain and pre torries will never learn.  The bottom line.  LEO YOU MUST RESIGN!
