Vanishing Point 17 July 2012

It was so bloody good to pass the mid winter point last week.  I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Hydromedusa at Enigma on the weekend, easily my fav band in Adelaide at the moment.  Local legends Spacebong and Leather Messiah were on the bill along with Adrift For Days from Sydney.  A great night.

I revisited the epic 'Breathe' a Psychic TV track (69minutes) during the week and couldn't resist airing it tonight.

Vanishing Point 19 June 2012

A week can go so bloody fast these days and the last seven days sped by.  I was fortunate enough to have my air-conditioning unit go critical on me the other day blasting my workspace with hot air whilst the rest of my building was a balmy 19 degrees throughout.  Fortunate because i got to crawl through my ceiling and get acquainted with an ancient unit that hummed in a most fantastic way.  I think I spent almost an hour marvelling at the resonant tone and the phasing generated by the echo in the confined space whilst i wrestled with aluminium flexible ducting. And oh my god it rained as well (on the tin roof) adding a texture to the sound that made me cry at the thought that it all could have been recorded for others to enjoy.

On a darker note i've been revisiting the Hellraiser Octopulet and managed to get through three movies in seven days (5 movies to go plus Dark City).  Watching these films in 15 minute instalments throughout the day is a great way to increase the tension inherent in the plot.  Its not that i have any form of attention deficit and cant focus for an entire film, i'm just to busy to sit for 2 hours in a row but lucky enough to have my own business where i can do what the hell i want between client contacts.....

(BAND, Track. Album)
1. ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE AND THE MELTING PARADISO UFO, Astral Projections From Holy Shangrila. Interstellar Guru And Zero.

Vanishing Point 5 June 2012

Another bloody cold night in Adelaide.  I've had Kikuchi Yukinori on high rotation again this week and strangely EVERYTHING has slowed down to the pace of that album, even peak hour traffic. Spooky. But that's the new quantum reality for you.

You know those shit indi bands who compete for their focus track to sell the next new car?  Well i was so very pleased to hear a cut up noise track selling the new Peugeot 508 (even though the point of the track was to highlight how silent the car can be inside).
