Vanishing Point 15 May 2012

Welcome to another Vanishing Point insertion. Today has been a landmark day for me...my daughter's second birthday.  The day was one long episode of opening gifts and exploring new things.  Luckily we are huge book buyers (and borrowers) and this meant most gifts were books (Phew! I loath plastic shit fashioned into toys and force fed to children).

Once again i'm trotting out Psychic TV but this time its a long long long track.....the awesome trip Cold Dark Matter.  Fifty eight minutes over a number of movements ending in spoken word.

It was good to flick through the new releases section here at 3D Radio and find a Don Preston reissue of early experimental music.  I'll be pulling out my Mothers Of Invention tapes during the week.....

Track List
(BAND, Track. Album).
1. MARTIN BLAND, Track 2.  Randomised Control Trials
2. DON PRESTON, Electronic Music.  Filters, Oscillators and Envelopes 1967-1982.
3. PSYCHIC TV, Cold Dark Matter.  Cold Dark Matter (1992).
4. MONARCH, Black Becomes The Sun.  Omens (2012).
5. GUPPA D'IMPROVVISAZIONE, Eflot. Nuova Consonanza.

This is the link to Martin Bland's blog.  Some good tunes available here.

Check out Monarch. This band gets better with each release.  Dead Men Tell No Tales was one of my favs in the year it was released. Sabot Noir was fantastic as well but Omens (2012) takes their down tempo to another dimension.  I dare say Omens has hints of the Grey Daturas especially the track Black Becomes the Sun.... Not a bad thing at all.....i still grieve the end of the Daturas.

Here is a link to Monarch....enjoy.

Catch you next week.
I'm off for a vanishing pint

Mike
